Art Center:
We need a place to Land!
Draka
Arts is currently looking for property to start building
it's Art Center & Residency Program.
The Center will have a foundry, and shop for welding and
blacksmithing functioning at its core by Summer 2005. We're
interested in locating a downtown San Antonio, TX compound,
building, or warehouse for start up of workshops, then expand
to a location of up to 200 acres with existing dwellings,
trees, and rolling hills for our Artist in Residence Program.
We are considering the hill country of Texas and areas in
California, New Mexico, Arizona, or Oregon as options. Any
leads regarding real estate would
be appreciated, please contact us at theBoard@drakaarts.org.
Also, take a look at our Art
Center Wish List for items we will be in
need of. Thank you so much!

New Home
For the time being - Houston, TX
This
past May the Orange
Show Foundation and Houston
Art Car Museum provided funding for Draka's first maiden
voyage out of Nevada to the nationally acclaimed Everyone's
Art Car Parade in Houston. Draka and her crew received a
huge Texas style welcome and enjoyed the adoration from
fans in the art car world, new and old. During the week
long festivities Draka blew off some steam on the streets
of downtown Houston, and shook and rattled sky-scraper windows
for two blocks! Whoopsi! Flynn, turn down the psi on that
flame-thrower! Draka also tooled around town and enchanted
children across the city as she participated in Main Street
Drag visits to local schools. Channel 2 aired a special
one-hour show on the parade, and Lisa & Draka were featured
on the cover of the Entertainment Guide, May 6th edition,
in the Houston Chronicle. Loads of pictures can be viewed
